With the new documentary being released in just a few days, we have seen the name over and over again. Long live Chris Farley. RIP Chris Farley. #ChrisFarley. It has been something fans have been waiting for and is definitely overdue. As anticipation rises for this upcoming journey through the life of one of the funniest men to live, we forget the sorrow that his untimely death brought to his closest of friends. The Farley Era (as I like to call it) was filled with stomach aching laughter, memorable quotes, and lessons on what to do to not end up living in an van down by the river… yet ended with sudden heat break. As we think back on the many hilarious moments with Chris Farley, it is obvious who his friends were. On the day of Chris Farley’s death, fans were crushed, a comedic icon was gone, and a huge group of close loved ones had to cope with the lose of someone so rare. One close friend in particular was David Spade, or some may know him as “RICHARD!”, had an especially had time adjusting to something so tragic. These two actors stood side by side in multiple movies and SNL skits, you can quite often catch Spade…upon many other co-stars…uncontrollably break character due to Farley’s hilarious and energetic displays of his characters. But the day of Farley’s funeral was one day that Spade could not stand to be side by side with his once loved friend, lying lifeless inside a box. Many took Spades reaction in an almost negative way, but Spade reassures all that his absents at the funeral was not a selfish move at all, he physically could not handle seeing someone who was once so full of life be completely opposite. It’s sad to hear the depressing stories like this about the people who were responsible for all our laughter in the past, but it also shows a true friendship and a life that will forever be missed.
